WHAT IS SOL
Speak Out Loud is a social organization consisted entirely of asian students. It has been running ever since 2020. Our goal is to empower women and the LGBTQ+ community by raising awareness and increasing open conversation, targeting both local and international audiences with bilingual content. We are currently publishing journals (all of which are avaiable on our wechat official account), hosting roundtables, creating podcasts, and developing academic aid platforms.

what we've done
over the past several years, we have published 70 articles, held 30+ socratic roundtables recorded by notes (a select few are available on this website). we have also published videos around the themes of "The History of Feminism," "Eliminating Sex Shame" on social media platforms in addition to designing sex-ed courses for elementary school children from the hui ethnic group in hunan, china.
Speak Out Loud is also responsible for Establishing a free menstruation pad aid system in shanghai foreign language school, the alma mater of the founders of SOL. SOL set rules and maintained regular supervision.
in 2020, Speak Out Loud held the first ever pride day in the history of shanghai foreign language school. events included a intersectional identity workshop for high school students, a gender euquality workshop for middle school students, and a school-wide body paint baraza.
